The Lord1 is2 my3 Shepherd4
1. We're not talking about some stone or wooden idol made with hands. We're talking about the King of Kings, the Lord of Lords, the Almighty Creator of heaven and Earth. The One Who is, Who was and always will be. Every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.
2. Not was. Not will be. Right now. Right here. When Moses asked Him His name, He said "I am" (Ex 3:14).
3. Mine. Not my dad's, my granddad's or my congregation's Shepherd. Mine. He knows my by name. I am called by Him and I belong to him - lock, stock and barrel. And that is the truth for everyone who will accept it.
4. John 10:11 - I am the good Shepherd; the good Shepherd gives His life for the sheep.
John 10:14 - I am the good Shepherd and know My sheep, and am known of Mine
We had a great time at small group last night (as usual), but did thing a little differently. The subject was "praying for other people" from 1 Tim 2:1-8 and that's what we did. We made groups of 3 or 4 people and prayed for someone who wasn't part of small group and who isn't a christian, e.g. one of my neighbours. The bottom line was that we had a wonderful time of prayer and my "40 days of faith" list which had 2 items on it now has 3 items.
Everyone present also wrote his/her names on a post-it. The post-its were distributed randomly amongst us and for the next week each one of us will pray for the person whose name we drew.
It'll be great to find out what was prayed and what happened ...
