Yep, it's an acronym: Fantastic Adventures In Trusting Him -> faith!
That's what it's about and that's the adventure that we (members and attendees of BIEC and anybody else who wants God to make a difference in their life) are embarking on. For 40 days we are going to pray to God for our heart's desire.
What amazing stories will we have to tell at the end of these 40 days?
Before I go any further, I have to say thank you to the originator of the "40 days of faith" idea. I stumbled across a blog titled (yes, that's correct) "40 Days of Faith" and thought it would be wonderful to do the same thing in conjunction with BIEC's prayer week.
So, if you think this is a good idea, surf over to 40 Days of Faith and say thank you to Trish Ryan.
What does "BIEC 40 days of faith" entail?
Basically you have to commit to praying for something for a period of 40 days and to blog about it - right here on this blog, in the comments section - for those 40 days. You can blog about what happened (or happens), what God spoke to you, how your prayers were answered, how your desire(s) changed, what you learned, etc., etc.
What should you pray for? First read what Ted has to say about this very subject on the BIEC site. That should answer the question, but in case you're still wondering, you have to pray for something that you want God to do for you. And may I suggest that you start off (before the 40 days of faith kicks off) by asking (i.e. praying to ...) God to help you identify the thing that you should be praying for?
If you're really stuck here, speak to someone from the leadership and pray together with them to help you identify your desire.
The point is to pray (honestly and with faith) and to record what happens - physically and spiritually.
The fact is that we (born-again Christians) all have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and because of this we are brothers and sisters, linked for eternity. We all are imperfect and we all have our problems. Forty days of faith is one way in which we can help, support and inspire one another. It is also a way in which we can share our hurts and weaknesses.
This is an opportunity to take your relationship with Jesus to a new level, to get to know God more intimately (John 17:3), to move from the natural to the supernatural, from the mundane to the extraordinary.
This is a challenge to everyone who knows that there is more to life than we are experiencing now.
Things are going to happen during these 40 days. We are going to change. Our life and circumstances are going to be impacted. This is not for the faint of heart.
Will you take up the challenge? If so, signify your commitment by posting a comment that says "YES!"
seems like somebody has to make a start... ok then, YES!!! i found it easy to think of something i really want, but as it involves other people, i'm not sure how much i can give away on an open side... what if they google and find out? anyway, i'll try to be as open as i can without being indiscreet...
ReplyDeleteanyway, i think it will help to publicly state I'LL FAST FROM TELEVISION FOR 40 DAYS! wow, thats gonna be tough... actually, we don't have a television. but i love to go on zdf website and download films and videos. which often feels like the only thing i'm capable of after a looong day at work, it really windes me down but also fills my head with lots of nonsense. i will fast from doing this now for 40 days and find other things to relax. and of course make some time to pray. but i might still watch news when i come across a proper tv or watch a dvd movie once in a while. just to define the rules clearly.
well then... hope others join too.

Hi Daniela,
ReplyDeleteWoohoo, great to have you aboard. Sorry that it took so long for your comment to appear - I had no idea that it was waiting for moderation...
Thanks for taking the plunge. Remember to remind, encourage, cajole, threaten (whatever it takes ...) your circle of BIEC friends to join.
Best
Andre
Hey!
ReplyDeleteGreat to encourage one another in praying persistently...
Like Daniela, I don't want to share the 'who' and 'what' publicly, but want to commit to pray. Also I plan to 'fast' from webnews sites and stick to once-a-day TV news. So I've deleted the shortcuts!
